T.K. Maxx, launched in 1994, introduced the off-price concept to the U.K. Today, T.K. Maxx is the 7th largest fashion retailer in the U.K. and the only major off-price retailer in Europe. Operating stores in the U.K. and Ireland, T.K. Maxx opened its first stores in Germany in 2007 and entered Poland in 2009.
Similar to T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and Winners, T.K. Maxx offers great values on brand-name family apparel, including women's footwear, lingerie, and accessories, home fashions and other merchandise such as luggage and toys.
T.K. Maxx ended 2009 with 263 stores, which average approximately 32,000 square feet in size. In 2010, we expect to net approximately 20 stores in the U.K. and Ireland combined, 25 stores in Germany and three stores in Poland, and believe that these markets combined could support about 650-725 stores, long term.
